What is the STX Appearance Package?
The STX Appearance Package includes some outstanding exterior
design elements plus a few enhancements to the interior of the F-150/F-250. The STX isn't
considered a trim level, but rather, a package that can be added to any
existing F-150/F-250 trim. This STX Package was first added to the 2019 lineup, but
can also be found with the 2020 truck models.
Price Comparison | Ford STX vs. XLT
The STX Package adds $1,995 to your Ford truck purchase,
whether it is with an F-150 or F-250 model. This price is in addition to the
existing truck MSRP. In comparison, the 2019 Ford F-150 XLT MSRP is $34,160,
while the 2020 Ford F-150 XLT MSRP is $34,760. If you wanted a Ford F-150 XLT
with the STX Package, you would add the $1,995 to the MSRP for your total
price.
Highlights | Ford STX vs. XLT
The appearance of trucks with the STX Package looks
completely different than the standard XLT models. It offers a sporty
appearance that stands out in a crowd. There aren't many interior differences
between the two. However, both the STX Package and the XLT trim are available
with the F-150 or F-250.
Ford Trucks Available with STX or XLT
The STX package can be added to any F-150, F-250, or Ranger truck on most trim levels. If you want a higher-end model, you can still choose to add the
STX Package. In comparison, the XLT is a trim level that's available with both
the F-150 and F-250. It's one step above the base XL model, so it doesn't offer
quite as much as some other choices, such as the Raptor, King Ranch, or Lariat.

Exterior Upgrades | Ford STX vs. XLT
The biggest difference between the Ford STX and XLT is
the exterior design. You can quickly see the difference by just looking at the
two.
STX: The STX package contains body-colored bumpers and a grille. As with the XL models, the STX also includes halogen headlamps. This package also adds privacy glass and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels. The STX package on the F-250 includes chrome bumpers and a grille. Plus, it comes with 18-inch cast-aluminum wheels.
XLT: The XLT
trim level includes chrome bumpers and a grille. It also comes with automatic
on/off headlamps and rain lamp wiper activation. As with the STX package, the
F-250 also includes 18-inch cast-aluminum wheels.
Interior Features | Ford STX vs. XLT
While there aren't as many interior differences between
the STX Package and the XLT trim as there are with the exterior design, there
are a few to mention.
STX: While most of the tech features remain the same with the XLT trim, this model also gains some unique STX badging. If you add the STX Package to a truck with a higher trim level than the XLT, you can expect a lot more interior features.
XLT: All Ford F-150 XLT models include power locks and windows, MyKey, the SYNC 3 infotainment system, an eight-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and a USB port.
Engine Power & Performance | Ford STX vs. XLT
The engine options vary based on the trim level of the
F-150, not the STX package. With that said, there are only some engines that
can be combined with the XLT trim. The base engine is a 290-horsepower
3.3-liter V6. However, this trim can also come with a 325-horsepower 2.7-liter
twin-turbo V6, a 395-horsepower 5.0-liter turbo V8, or the 375-horsepower
3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. If you choose to add the STX Package to a Lariat, King
Ranch or Platinum trim, you can also opt for the 250-horsepower 3.0-liter
turbodiesel V6. Plus, the Limited and Raptor trims offer an additional
450-horsepower 3.5-liter high-output twin-turbo V6. With the Ford trucks,
owners have the option to choose rear- or four-wheel-drive. Plus, the base
engine comes with a six-speed automatic transmission, while all of the others
have a ten-speed automatic transmission included.
